Sıfatlar
Adjectives

Sometimes we use two or more
adjectives together.
Adjectives can be 'factual'
adjectives or 'opinion' adjectives.

There is another order for
these when you have more
than one in a sentence
or question.
Sıfatlar birbirleri arkasına
dizildiğinde acaba doğru
sırası ne olmalı ?

ARTICLE
OPINION
FACT
NOUN

a
pretty
long
dress

an

big
book

a

hot
meal

a

marble
table

an
ugly
brown
cat

It's also possible to use more
than one 'fact' adjective in a
sentence.
Normally, adjectives
of size and length come before adjectives of shape and width.
Boyut ve Uzunluk sıfatları
normalde biçim ve genişlik sıfatlarından önce gelir

Often, we will put
'fact' adjectives in this order:

  1.
How big?
2.
How old?
3.
What color?
4.
Where from?
5. What is
it made
from?
NOUN

freckled
    nose
  long
brown
    trousers
  long
black
  nylon dress
  large antique
English  walnut sofa table

The rule above can be changed
according to the speaker. In the
beginning, when you are first
learning about adjective order,
it's best to try and use this order
all the time. Later, you'll learn
variations from this pattern
.

When we use more than one color
adjective
, here are some examples
of how they're used - always with
the word 'and' between the last
two colors
.

black and white brown and white blue and green
purple and red red, white and blue yellow and green
red, white and green black and green green and white
pink and purple gray, green and pink black and brown

  We use adjectives
after the words:
get/
be/
become/
seem

I am becoming angry. She's tired and getting sleepy.

Your mother seems happy. Do I seem sad?

Why are you getting sad? Is he getting bored?

It seems cold today. I'm getting married.

They are becoming new parents. He will be a tall man.

I will be careful. Is she becoming a bride?

  Adjectives are also
used to say how someone
or something tastes, feels,
sounds, looks or smells:

He looks good. That fish smells bad.
She feels bored. That rap music sounds horrible.
The meat smells delicious. Her skin feels cold.
The cashmere sweater feels soft. The picture looks fuzzy.

  Adjectives describe NOUNS.
If you wish to describe a verb, you must use an ADVERB.
